Serving God by serving our Neighbors
Rooted in love, called to serve.
At St. Matthew’s in Laramie, our faith calls us to care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our neighbors. Through ministries that feed the hungry, clothe the community, offer comfort through prayer, and support human dignity, we join in God’s work of mercy and justice. Each outreach program is a reflection of our shared belief that every person is beloved—and that small acts of kindness, done with great love, can transform lives.
Laramie Soup Kitchen
Sharing food, building community.
The Laramie Soup Kitchen serves hot, nutritious meals to anyone in need—no questions asked. Located in the lower level of St. Matthew’s, it provides more than just food: it offers a space of welcome, dignity, and connection.
Since 1983, the Soup Kitchen has been driven by a deep compassion for those experiencing hunger, loneliness, or hardship. With the support of volunteers and donations, it continues to serve the people of Laramie five days a week.
Whether you're looking to donate food, share your time, or simply learn more, the Soup Kitchen invites all to join in this shared work of hospitality.

Donations of clean, quality items are always appreciated, as are the volunteers who make this ministry possible.

Prayers and Squares
Tied with prayer, wrapped in love.
Each Tuesday morning, a faithful group of quilters gathers in Hunter Hall to sew prayer quilts for those in need of comfort, healing, or strength. Each quilt is created by hand, with knots tied during prayer for the person receiving it.
This ministry began with a single quilt and a desire to offer spiritual support through tangible love. Today, as part of Prayers and Squares International, the group continues its mission with the motto: “It’s not about the quilt—it’s all about the prayers.”
Every quilt is a gift of grace, offered freely and prayerfully to remind recipients that they are not alone.
The Period Project
Meeting needs with compassion.
The Period Project began with a simple but powerful question: what happens when someone can’t afford menstrual hygiene products?
In response, the people of St. Matthew’s began collecting pads and tampons to distribute through local service agencies. These small but essential donations help women and girls stay in school, go to work, and live with dignity.
Collection baskets are located in Hunter Hall and the sanctuary, with weekly contributions encouraged. Financial donations also support bulk purchases and expanded outreach.
Together, we are making a difference—one basket, one person, one act of love at a time.
Cathedral Home for Children
Restoring hope, strengthening families.
Since 1910, Cathedral Home for Children has been a sanctuary for youth and families in crisis. Rooted in compassion and guided by the belief that every child deserves to thrive, Cathedral Home offers a continuum of care—including residential treatment, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and family support services.
Their trauma-informed approach addresses the emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of young people, empowering them to heal and grow. Through partnerships with local organizations, including St. Matthew’s, Cathedral Home continues to be a beacon of hope in our community.

Other Ways We Serve
“Be doers of the word, and not merely hearers.”
— James 1:22
In addition to our ongoing outreach ministries, we also embrace opportunities to gather, celebrate, and welcome our neighbors through:
-
Community arts classes and events that foster creativity and connection
-
Hospitality ministries including our beloved annual traditions like the Pancake Breakfast, the Homecoming Parade, the Christmas Parade, and more
Whether we’re flipping pancakes, making art, or marching down 2nd Street, each event is a joyful expression of our call to love God and love our neighbors.
